CCMS Academic Team are Champions of 2025 WKAA Tournament

Calloway County Middle School's Academic Team finished as overall team champions in the mid-season tournament hosted by the West Kentucky Academic Association in Paducah on December 15h.  The tournament included 16 middle school teams from all around Region One of Kentucky.  

Along with the overall championship, students were awarded medals in all areas of written competition. In the area of science, the Lakers took the top two spots with Elijah Craft claiming first place and Grace Munoz finishing in second place. The Lakers took the top three spots in fine arts with Ellie Johnson finishing first, followed by Madison Purdy and Grace Munoz tying for second place. The Lakers had three students medal in mathematics with Daniel Briedwell claiming third place and Andy Rogers and Dean Vernon both finishing in fifth place. In language arts, Madison Purdy came in third place, and in social studies, Jayden Burkeen took the runner-up trophy.  

The Lakers were followed by Heath Middle in second place and Lone Oak Middle in third place.
